[flickr id=”6459187143″ thumbnail=”original” overlay=”false” size=”original” group=”” align=”none”]Finally got a set of used 7″ headlight trims from the UK. The trim pieces aren’t great, but a lot better than the first set I received. The swap was pretty easy to do, though the generic plastic headlight buckets I sourced might get swapped for a Lucas set if I ever get ambitious.

I also discovered a broken ground wire on the inner headlight on the driver’s side, which is now working again. Between the 7″ lights and the halogen bulbs, night vision should be quite a bit better.
Nice car but the bumpers don’t look right. The car deserves now european bumpers too !
And the turn signal lenses too…
Sorry Roger !
I investigated the bumpers, but the chrome loop you see is trim on top of a steel loop which is welded to the car! It would require major surgery to convert to the earlier bumpers, and I don’t think I’ll be doing the operation.
Signal lenses might be a different story. ;)
I just stumbled across your site and must say I’m truly humbled. Your addiction far exceeds mine. I’m greatly relieved that I found your SD1 too late. Searching for them is far easier than living with them.
Oups, I couldn’t imagine it was welded to the car ! Sorry about that ! I love the car anyway !
And what about your E type ?
european?! this car is British, matey ! oh,by the way, nice job, roger. ….j
I have exactly the same car in exactly the same color and I have been planning the same 7″ headlight conversion. I picked up the trim pieces in the UK but now need to buy the buckets. where did you “source” yours from and is there any benefit to finding old metal lucas buckets and if so where would you source them from?
Thanks
Miles
